Efeito Neuroprotetor da Acupuntura na Lesão Medular Aguda

Um estudo obteve a comprovação de que a acupuntura tem grande potencial atenuante na lesão medular aguda em humanos.

Foram utilizados apenas dois pontos: Shuigou (VG26) e Yanglingquan (VB34). Tais pontso reduziram de maneira significativa a morte celular por apoptose de neurônios e oligodendrócitos. Logo, a lesão recuperou-se mais rapidamente. Houve Inibição da enzima caspase-3, redução do tamanho da lesão e da perda de axônios.

Concluiu-se que a acupuntura pode ser usada potencialmente como uma ferramenta terapêutica para o tratamento da lesão medular aguda em humanos. Quanto mais precoce for iniciado o tratamento, melhores serão os resultados.
